This week I have gotten to spend time with a friend who lives far away in Los Angeles, California. We get to see each other only a few times a year. Do you have someone who you see rarely? Who is that? What do you like to do with this person? Write a letter or e-mail to this person, and tell them about your week.
I meant to send this out yesterday, but I have to admit, I was plain pooped! Our last week was fabulous, but very tiring. My students were simply wonderful this week, though. They did so well on Arts Day. They represented Dixie, you, and me very well. I am extremely proud of them.
It was so nice to meet with so many of you this week in conferences. I always enjoy those. Remember to have your kid read at least a LITTLE this week, and please stay very safe! 
I want to thank all of you wonderful parents who sent in candy and eggs for our Candy Hunt today. It was a HUGE success, and the kids simply loved it. (They were so darned cute!) I also want to send a big thank you to those parents who came in and helped today. We simply could not have done it without your help! You ALL are wonderful!!

Maxton Cooper Gray was just born this afternoon (Friday, March 14th) at Central Baptist. He’s 8 pounds 10 ounces, 21 inches long. Mr. Gray, Mrs. Gray, and baby are doing great!
No, I’m not talking about the Johnny Cash song! :-) Since we were on the subject of volcanoes, I thought it would be neat if I gave you some websites. This will hopefully be informative and fun! (And just for kicks, I’m including the Johnny Cash song.)

Well, I hope you are all enjoying the gorgeous snow. I have not been out yet, but I thought I would venture into the cold here in a little while. In order to learn more about this interesting pattern, I have been really enjoying Bill Meck’s blog. (He’s from wlex on channel 8.) I thought you all might like to take a look.
All right, I think something is definitely coming, because things were a little wild in Mrs. Fields’ class this week! I’ve had to regroup. Today we started three new positive changes in the classroom. For each individual child, they can now earn tickets for good behavior. They put the tickets in a little tin in my room, and I make a drawing at the end of the day. (They get things like Hard Work Cafe, my rollie (Spelling???) chair for an hour, front of the line, free morning work pass, etc.) Each table is competing for the most beads throughout the day. The table that gets the most beads gets treasure chest at the end of the day. Finally, the whole class is earning points throughout the week for good behavior. If they get enough points, they get a special reward on Friday. (Tomorrow the kids will get to sit where ever they like all day!)
Let’s hope that this brings my wonderful students back to normal!!!
Hi! I realized that I have not gotten a newsletter out in awhile, so here are some things coming up:
Tonight: Literacy Night from 5:15 until 7:00 in the Cafeteria. Come join us for some reading fun!
March 7: We will HAVE school on Friday, due to snow make-up. (Also, the Lexington Philharmonic will be coming to Dixie this day at 1:15. Sounds like fun!)
March 13th: We will be going on a field trip to the Lexington Children’s Theatre to see “The BFG.” We are currently reading this book in my class. Permission slips went home today. Please make sure to send in money and the permission slip by next Wednesday!
Report Cards: It’s that time of year again! I will need to meet with each of you for Spring Conferences at the end of this month. I will send home more information later.
