Dear Parents and Guardians,
First of all, I apologize that this letter (and the graded work) is coming home a day later than planned. To explain, I was very ill last week and then had to attend a wedding in Florida over the weekend. The plane was late in landing and I did not get to come back to Pilot View on Sunday to work. Ordinarily, you should expect this folder on Mondays.
REMEMBER, we have an extended day field trip on THURSDAY. Your child should be picked up at Boone’s Creek by 5 pm. Students should wear tennis shoes or hiking boots and dress comfortably for the weather. They may wear hats or visors for the day. If you have not sent in the $3 for the trip, please do so tomorrow.
CONGRATULATIONS to the fourth grade for winning their first PIZZA PARTY for ATTENDANCE!! This took great teamwork and I am very proud of the class. We have the opportunity to win THREE more pizza parties during the month of September. PLEASE COME TO SCHOOL ON TIME EVERYDAY, AND STAY ALL DAY!! Miss Wasson

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We now have the first full week of school under our belts, and it was a good one. The class is working hard and it is appreciated!
As you know, the students have recently set their Accelerated Reader goals. Please make sure they are reading each day and not waiting until the last minute. Two reading test grades will come from AR each 9 weeks. The students will receive a grade from their reading comprehension average, and a second grade based on what percentage of their goal they have met. We take this quite seriously in the fourth (and fifth) grade. Reading skills are the single most important thing that the children can develop.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me!
Miss Wasson

Dear Parents & Guardians,
We are off to a wonderful start in the fourth grade! I can already tell this is a great group of students who are eager to learn. We will be getting more into our subjects and textbooks this week. I have included a brief overview below.
Thank you for sending in the school supplies and all of the MANY, MANY papers you have been asked to fill out. If you haven’t yet sent these things, please do so at your earliest convenience.
I want to again stress how very important communication is to your child’s success in school. Ask them lots of questions about their day, and please contact me when necessary. Together we can help them to achieve great things!
Miss Wasson

Welcome back everyone! I am very excited to begin another school year at Pilot View Elementary. This teacher blog is a new way for me to communicate with both parents and students at home. Unlike the traditional blog, I am the only person who has access to WRITING on this page. This website will be a place where you can find important information about subjects your child is studying each week, as well as reminders of school events, great resources for use at home, and whatever else may come up! I plan to update this site at least weekly, so check back often. I would like your feedback about the blog, as this is the first year I am trying it. Let me know what you think…is it helpful?…do you access it often?…what else would you like to see here?
Our communication is very important!
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns - I hope we can work together to raise your child to their highest level.
