Parents we are going to be having a dinner fundraiser here at New Haven to help raise money for the victims in Haiti. The 5th grade is in charge of providing drinks for the dinner (2 liters, water, etc.). I will let you know more details as soon as I get them.
To help the students get in the giving mood this holiday season we are going to be doing “Secret Giver”. This will take place the week before Winter Break. The students will be randomly selecting a classmate that they will create pictures for, write notes, cards, etc. for each day Dec. 14-18. On Dec. 18 each child should bring in a wrapped (no more than $5) gift for their classmate. We will do the gift exchange that afternoon. Please let me know ASAP if you need assistance with the gift!

The 5th grade is responsible for donating PERSONAL HYGEINE items for our food drive for Thanksgiving. Please send in any shampoo, lotion, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. for those in need over the holidays.
I have found a WONDERFUL new website if you are looking for extra practice in math!!! If you go the the Math Resources page you will find the link there. There are a ton of printable worksheets (with answer keys) that you can use at home for extra practice with a particular math skill. If your child completes any of these worksheets have them bring the sheets to school and show me!!!
Parents who had their Parent Teacher Conferences last week thank you so much! Everyone who was scheduled to have a meeting did! I really enjoyed talking with you about your children!
The next round of conferences will be this Thursday, November 5. I look forward to talking with you about your children as well!
Our Harvest Celebration is Friday (Oct. 30) from 2:00-2:45. Please let our room mom know if you would like to donate any items for the students for the party. Also, students are allowed to dress up on Friday but cannot wear masks, weapons, or blood. Their costumes need to be appropriate for school (i.e., no shorts if it is not 70*, no spaghettie strap tanks, etc.).
Picture retakes will be on November 18.
