There are lots of fun events coming up in the next few weeks. Our school-wide field trip to Boyd’s Orchard is this Friday, October 24. All the students always enjoy this field trip. If it rains, the trip will be cancelled and money returned to parents. Our fabulous Bake Sale is at Kroger on Saturday morning, October 25. This is always a very good fundraiser for WCS. I hope you plan on baking some great items. Large items such as cakes and pies usually sell best. Next week is the end of the grading period. Teachers should be contacting you in the near future regarding setting up conference times. All parents are required to attend conferences at the end of the first nine weeks. On Friday, November 7, a benefit concert will be held at at 7:00 for WCS. The Messengers and Eternity will be performing. At one time we had planned on having the kids perform; however, that is not going to happen after all. I do hope you will come out with your family to enjoy the great music and fellowship. The weekend of November 8 & 9 we will have a book fair at Joseph Beth. You will be hearing more about this event in the near future. On November 10, we will be having an in-school field trip entitled “Physics is Fun.” This field trip is put on by the same company who brought in the planetarium last year. The students will have an assembly in the morning and then each class will come to workshops throughout the day. We need approximately 14 parents volunteers to make this event successful. If you can help out, please call the school. Thanks.
The retreat last week was a wonderful time for the students and staff. The weather was great and all the students seemed to have a wonderful time. I hope you received lots of positive feedback from them about the day (or night for 6th-8th).
I hope you have a great fall break.
I hope your children are looking forward to the Fall Retreat this Thursday (6th-8th grades) and Friday (K-8th grades). The teachers have spent a lot of time planning some great activities for your children. We hope all the students will come away from the time having learned and grown in their relationship with God. Please be in prayer for the students and teachers for this time together.
All chaperones for the day have been contacted by the retreat planning team. So if you have not been contacted to help, you can spend time that day helping get ready for the Fall Carnival that evening. With the students out of the building, it will be a great time for the carnival to get set up by volunteers. By the way, all families in the school are required to help with the carnival. It will be a great evening of fun and fellowship. Plan to attend!
It was great to see all the kids dressed up in their finest for picture day today. Most of the children are excited to get their pictures taken, although some would rather not particpate in the event. Students who may not have been at school today can get their pictures taken tomorrow so plan accordingly.
Tomorrow morning is “See You at the Pole.” This is an annual event where students lead others students in prayer for their school, fellow students, and country. We would love for children and parents to join us tomorrow morning at 7:45 near the front entrance of the school for this time of prayer. When this event is held at public schools, it must be student led - otherwise it would be deemed illegal because adults and teachers cannot lead students in any form of religious proceedings at school. Therefore, in that arena, students must be the leaders and lead other students without guidance from teachers or other adults. We are very fortunate at WCS because we do not have to follow those guidelines. Our students, teachers and parents are free and encouraged to pray and express their love of God thoughout the school day. So we would like for all our students, parents, and any one else who would like to pray to join us tomorrow morning. We can spend time praying for the students who are not fortunate enough to be in an environment where they can show their love for Jesus freely throughout the day. See you tomorrow morning!
I hope everyone is having a great first few days of school. The students and teachers seem to be settling in very well. Please help out by dropping off your student at the door as soon as possible. Students adjust much more quickly when parents don’t walk up to the classroom.
I am looking forward to a great school year. I hope you are as well.
I hope everyone had fun at the ice cream social last evening. It was great to get to see everyone again. Tomorrow will come quickly. Try and get your child to bed at a decent time tonight even though I know sometimes they are too excited to go to sleep. I am looking forward to a great school year. We have a fabulous group of teachers.
See you tomorrow morning!
It’s hard to believe that school will start in just 27 days. The summer has flown by. The new WCS website should be up and running in the next few days (if not already). I hope you are able to navigate through the information and find answers to any questions you have about what is going on at WCS. I became a grandmother over the summer. Jordan was born June 18, so much of my summer has been spent traveling back and forth to Indianapolis. I couldn’t resist showing you a picture. I can’t wait to see everyone back again.

I hope everyone is having a great summer. Remember to tell your friends about WCS. There are a few of you who haven’t sent in your book fees. Your child may start out the school year without textbooks if the fees are not received by July 1. (This doesn’t apply to those of you who have spoken with me about them.) Also, I will send out report cards as soon as I receive the fees. Thank you.
Report cards were mailed out yesterday. If you still had an outstanding balance, you received a letter instead.
We currently looking for a new webmaster to take over our website. Until we get things up and running again, you can find all the current school information by clicking the pages on this site. Have a good summer!
