Power of I
Dear Parents: Â
Two Rivers Middle School’s mission is to work collaboratively to create a positive school climate where learning, citizenship and diversity are valued. We provide rigorous learning opportunities and comprehensive support to attain high levels of academic achievement as determined by state and national standards. In order to make this vision possible, we are going to need to find ways to assist all of our students in meeting the high standards of work necessary to meet this challenge.
Our school is a member of a network of middle schools aimed at increasing student achievement by providing rigorous academic courses that meet state and local standards, and teaching in such a way as to engage more students in interesting work. This work will take effort on the part of teachers and our students. Learning is the result of effort, and even more effort is required if students are behind. With that in mind, we plan to assist those students who need additional help to meet those rigorous standards and produce quality work that is necessary in middle school, high school, post secondary education and the world of work.Â
One of the biggest changes that may affect your student is that Two River Middle School will no longer accept work that is below a C level. Students will have to redo work that does not meet these requirements, and zeros will not be allowed. We know that in the past many students have not had work done on time or not completed work at all, and they have received zeros. This practice was used in hopes of helping students understand the consequences of not doing acceptable work, and many students leave having completed few if any challenging assignments and are completely unprepared for the new level. TRMS wants all our students to be successful, and we will need your assistance.
On the first day of school the No Zero Policy will be reviewed and discussed with your child. A copy of the No Zero Policy will also be sent home. Please review and discuss the policy with your child.  It is important for everyone to understand that the bar has been raised here at TRMS, but, at the same time, we are likewise going to raise the level of instruction to creatively assist students in reaching those high expectations. Once you have read the policy and discussed it with your student, please have your student sign to indicate that he/she understands the policy and that you do as well by your signature. We look forward to receiving your signed policy and support throughout the school year.Â
 Sincerely,Â
Eric Neff, Principal
