Team Discipline PlanÂ
We believe learning takes place in an environment where both teachers and students work together. Students are expected to follow each procedure and expectation put into place by the school and their teachers to help provide students with a safe and rewarding day.Â
Â
Teachers are required to maintain a discipline log for all classes. Discipline marks are given if students do not cooperate with their teachers.Â
 Check Marks in Log
Ø     First Check- Warning
Ø     Second Check- Team Time-Out
Ø     Third Check- Phone Call home to parent or note in planner
Ø     Fourth Check- Team Detention
Ø     Fifth Check- Behavior out of control and sent to the principal
Â
**Chewing gum is not allowed. Students caught with chewing gum will be given a gum detention immediately, regardless of check marks in the behavior log.
     Team DetentionÂ
As part of the team’s and school’s discipline plan, team detention is held each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoon. The time of team detention is 3:00-4:00. Detention notices are sent home with students the day before the detention. Students should have the notice signed and returned to their teacher.                           Â
 Parent Conferences and Contact InformationÂ
Parents may call for a conference with our team. Our team planning time is on Tuesday’s 11:45-12:40. On Mondays, Thursday’s, and Friday’s teachers have individual planning and are available to meet with parents. The school office can direct your call at 392-1100. With the use of technology parents and students can also keep in contact through the following websites:

 Student PlannersÂ
Students are given a planner at the beginning of the school year. They are required to write down assignments and may be required to have them signed by a parent. We use the planner at various times to write notes to parents indicating students’ progress, behavior, or other school issues. Parents are encouraged to also use the planner to communicate with the teachers. Students must keep their planner with them at all times. Without their planner, they will not be permitted to leave the classroom.
Â
Supplies
Â
Students are asked to bring supplies throughout the year. Students are asked to bring the following items to school to leave in their lockers or with their homeroom teachers.
·       Pencils
·       Paper
·       Tissues
·       Paper Towels
·       Hand Sanitizer
   Book bagsÂ
Students will not use book bags during the school day. Students will be asked to leave their book bags in their locker to reduce the clutter in the classroom.Â
Â
Grading Policy
Â
Our school is a member of a network of middle schools aimed at increasing student achievement by providing rigorous academic courses that meet state and local standards, and teaching in such a way as to engage more students in interesting work. This work will take effort on the part of teachers and our students. Learning is the result of effort, and even more effort is required if students are behind. With that in mind, we plan to assist those students, who need additional help to meet those rigorous standards and produce quality work that is necessary in high school, post secondary education and the world of work. Students will receive the grades of A, B, C, and I. The I represents incomplete work throughout the quarter. Students will have to redo work that does not meet the requirements, and zeros will not be allowed. It is important for everyone to understand that the bar has been raised here at TRMS, but that we are going to assist students in reaching those high expectations.
Â
We are looking forward to working with you! Throughout the year, team Atlas will be sending home additional information to parents. We want to wish all parents and students a great year. Please call on us if we can help you at anytime.
