The school year is off to a GREAT start. All of you did a wonderful job this week. Keep up the great work.

It was great to see all of you today on the first day! We have a great group of students on team atlas and I am looking forward to a very successful year.  Don’t forget to get your rules, expectations and procedures sheet signed.

Here is a copy of the rules and regulations  each student will be receiving the first day of science class.  This will be their first assignment, to have the letter signed by a guardian and returned.

PROCEDURES, RULES, AND EXPECTATIONS

ANNOUNCEMENTS: When someone’s voice comes over the speaker, we will immediately stop what we are doing and listen.

ANSWERING QUESTIONS: Please raise your hand and wait to be called on. Please respect others and their answers…… no comments about others answers

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU WISH TO ….

-Leave your seat

GIVE ME FIVE: When your teacher raises her hand and asks you to GIVE ME FIVE, you should immediately stop what you are doing and:

- eyes watching

- ears listening

- mouth quiet

- hands free and still

- brain thinking

COOPERATIVE GROUP WORK:  During the year we will be working in groups, there are some rules that you must follow in order to have successful groups. The rules are as follows

1) You must complete all group activities and individual reports

 2) Play your role in the group

3) You have the right to ask anyone else in your group for help

4) You have the duty to assist anyone who asks for help

5) Help other group members without doing their work for them

6) Everybody helps

 ENTERING THE CLASSROOM: Upon arrival in the classroom you will need to take your folder out of the crate and go to your seat. Once at your seat, you will need to look at the smart board and begin answering the flashback questions. Please  remember to use inside voices when entering and exiting the classroom.

PLANNERS: Planners are your hall pass…… no planner, no hallway travel. Please write down the assignment/homework in your classes. Replacement planners cost $5.00 so please take care of your planner.

HALLWAY TRAVEL: Please use your hall passes wisely. If you wish to use a pass to go to the restroom, visit your locker, etc., you must have your planner ready and ask your teacher to sign you out using the hall pass section. NO PLANNER NO TRAVEL!

 HALLWAY TRAVEL PROCEDURES ( GROUP)

1. At the teacher’s signal, quickly and QUIETLY line up as directed.

2. Begin walking at the teacher’s signal

3. We will walk QUICKLY, QUIETLY, and in a SINGLE-FILE line to our destination

4. We will not talk, touch, or make unnecessary movements while walking in line

5. When we reach our destination, we will quickly and quietly be seated and begin Working on our assignments.

Welcome to science world! This site will help students and parents stay current with the wonderful happenings in science class this year. I will use this website to post assignments, field trips, my extra help days, and other information to my science class.  I will also be adding links  depending on what we are studying  so the students  can have extra resources  if they need more help.
