King’s Island was a blast. I don’t know if I’ll ever go on Drop Zone again, but hey, I did it once. Today is Career Day at Sharp Middle School. I’m really excited about the Archaeologist coming!!!. Below are some import class dates to keep in mind.
May 29th — Unit Test: Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome
May 30th — Textbook turn in. If you’ve lost your textbook, make sure I have a check for $49 made out to Sharp Middle School by May 30th.

Tomorrow is our annual Pathfinder trip to King’s Island Math and Science Days. Students, please remember the following:
- You MUST wear your t-shirt, if you don’t we can refuse to bring you.
- You are NOT to alter your t-shirt in any way, cut sleeves etc
- You MUST be here and in homeroom before 8am
- You MUST have a parent at school to pick you up at 8pm
- All Chaperones will come with their child to homeroom – so we can verify that they are here also
- You are not to wonder away from your group for any reason, if you do and chaperone reports it, you can be asked to go home.
- Extra money will be needed if and only if you want extra food beyond the slices previously ordered or souvenirs
- DRINKS are FREE all day
- You may have ipods etc. but keep in mind you are responsible for the up keep all day> nothing will be left on the bus
- You are NOT to bring back packs unless you are staying at school- you will not be permitted to go back to your locker when we get back to school

We are forging ahead in our study of ancient history. This week we are learning about ancient Rome and the importance of its republic. We’re counting down the days until summer, but we still have a lot to do. We finished our unit on Greece today with the viewing of the 1963 movie, Jason and the Argonauts. The students learned a great deal about daily life in ancient Greece as well as their attitudes towards their gods.

Yes, the school year is almost over, but we will continue to push forward in our study of Ancient Greece. We just finished learning about the Golden Age of Greece. Check out this video. If you thought the video we watched in class was boring, well then, just check this one out!

The Greco-Persian Wars was a series of wars between the small, independant city-states of ancient Greece and the large, strong and wealthy empire of Persia. In the next few classes we will study this important event in history and analyze its importance to us in the modern-day.
