Social Skills for Young Students

I want to share a video with you about building social skills in young students.  Young people with learning disabilities say that this area is where they need a lot of help from us.  This video gives a general rendering of the subject and also gives some tips for parents of elementary age students with learning disabilities.   It is a clip from a NBC News Today Show - hope you find it interesting and helpful.

The Importance of Character Education

Welcome back!

When I teach students, whether as a resource teacher or a collaborative teacher, my focus is on the Kentucky Program of Studies and Core Content areas, but also on building the character of our students.  It is very important that I use all teachable moments for teaching academic skills, study skills, social skills and life skills that will lead to more success in each class, in the school community, at home and in their careers.  Take a look at the following website that has relevant information on the CHAMPS program, internet safety, and a host of other informational programs for preventing bullying, irresponsible driving, and drug use.  You can find out more about what we can do together to promote responsibility, caring, respectful behavior and strong character in our students:
