The field trip this Saturday is canceled due to student illness and school being canceled.
We’ll have a trip planned for March.
For celebration of the Chinese New Year the Cultural Diversity Club is planning to attend a special day at the Explorium of Lexington (formally the Lexington Children’s Museum or Theater). The event is on Saturday February 9th. We will meet at the Explorium at 12:30 and walk around the corner to eat lunch at the food atrium. Student need to bring money to eat lunch.Then we will spend time at the Chinese New Year Celebration. They will have a Chinese marketplace and cultural fair all day Saturday! A special exhibit of costumes from ethnic minorities across China will be featured as well as food and art from across China. This event is free and open to the public in the What’s New 2 room located on the 2nd Floor of Victorian Square. Then at 4:30 we will see special performances by 6 students and an adult magician from the Heilongjiang College of Performing Arts in Harbin, China. The performance cost $12, but the club will be able to pay the cost. I will be able to let students know by this Thursday. Parents you are welcome to attend if you like. I will be there early and stay until everyone is picked upJ I need to get us tickets so have your student let me know if they can attend by Tuesday the 22nd of January.
The Cultural Diversity Club will be attending a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning on Monday January 21st. Parents will need to provide the transportation. It begins at 1:30 and lasts until 3:30. Lunch will be provided. The cost is free. I will be there early and of course stay until everyone is picked up. It maybe conducive to carpool with other members of the club. Please let me know if you will be attending.
